Normandy, France - July 2022

We recently spent a hot and sunny week at the beginning of the school summer holidays in a beautiful Normandy house in Honfleur, surrounded by a huge garden with lots of trees and wildflowers, and constantly fluttering butterflies. I would cope with the very early morning wake ups (with two small children) by sketching in the peaceful cool garden before the sun started to blaze down on us. We spent most of the week in the houses pool which was very welcome in the heatwave, and gave me lots of time to float around and mull over print inspiration ideas.

Once I was home I wanted to turn these sketches into a holiday memory linocut print. This one seemed to happen all by itself, it just rushed out of me - drawn, carved and printed all within a couple of weeks. Printed in the same lovely blue colour of the house window shutters which I spent all week admiring.

You can find my ‘Summer in Normandy’ limited edition linocut print here.

You can find the Air BnB listing for the house we stayed in here.
