Isle of Wight - June 2022

Our half term holiday to the Isle of Wight in June this year seems like a lifetime ago now, but I wanted to share some of my photos of the beautiful landscapes and wildflowers that always fill me with inspiration.

This is the third year we’ve visited the Isle of Wight, we first came in the summer of 2020 after our holiday to the South of France was covid cancelled, and I’m so glad we did. It’s been a welcome refuge to us through the tough lockdown years and we’ve created lifelong memories there. It has got a very unique charm, and I look forward to the next time we can visit.

One of my favourite spots on the island is the clifftop above Freshwater Bay where lots of wildflowers grow. It is full of sea thrift, ribwort plantain, and wild carrot and it has looked different each year we have visited.

A nice little surprise one day was walking to Duver Beach in Bembridge and finding a huge patch of Fragrant evening primrose growing on the sand dunes.

My favourite part of the holiday was the rock pooling at St Helens, Duver. We would come here each day at low tide and spend hours peering into pools and getting lost in the little underwater worlds. I love all the colours and textures of the seaweed, shells and stones and hopefully they can start to creep into some print ideas soon.
